Music Interpretation Poster

This poster is inspired by the orchestral piece “Mars, Bringer of War.” This design captures the same motions and behaviors when I first listened to this song. Instead of using red to capture the warmth or aggression of Mars, I went with a light scarlet color with a grayish green gradient in the corner, resembling a burning film.

The top half of the design is a composition of physical collage work, both with scanning and acetone transfers. The typography below emulates the same space seen within the collage, such as direction and use of negative space. The typeface used is Helvetica Neue LT Std with varying weights to emphasize important information. The ambiguity of the upside-down “T” is to represent the same techniques used in the collage.
